Bet more on all streets, 5 preflop, pot flop, pot turn, river as much as you think they'll call

raise more preflop - make it at least $4

bet more on the flop
bet more on the turn
i don't mind pushing the river

If you lost this hand it's because your bet sizes are too small at every point. Raise this to $4 preflop, bet full pot on the flop (BOTH straight and flush draw out there), push the turn.

Looks like JT got there on you on the river, you obviously have to call though. If I were him I would have pushed.

Pre-flop -- Don't min-raise. Make it 3or 4xbb plus 1 bb per limper so $4-5 should be your play.
Flop - Pot-sized bet is what you want to do here, especially since it is multi-way. You just gave every draw in the world correct odds to call.
Turn - Bet more (see above)
River - You missed your chance at redemption. All-in.

As soon as you flopped top set your plan should have been "How do I get all the money in the middle". Underbetting because you have a monster and are afraid everyone will fold only makes it correct for draws to call you down, hit and suck you dry. Don't play your monsters any differently than AK or TPGK.

What they said. You played this like a limit player. You're going to lose a lot of money this way.

Yes I did, (because limit is what I've been playing) and yes I did lose a lot of money. BB indeed had TJ and I took a beating. Got a LOT to learn.

You could have saved it all by just open pushing the turn. The preflop and flop bets are wrong but since the turn was a total brick you could have just pushed and taken a huge pot home.

All the advice is appreciated. I'll have to read more and also play NL at lower levels. Dropping $31 on one hand didn't bankrupt me, but it was a shock. (I know, less than peanuts for many on this forum.)

edit
finally read the forum FAQ - With my bankroll, I had no business being in this game in the first place.
