I've gone and made the pot big with my flop bet...but if I make a big bet now...it seems like all the hands that beat me call, and the only hands that fold are ones that have few outs against me. So I put in the max with the worst hand while not really improving my chances of winning the pot. On the other hand I probably can't fold anyway, and the hands which are beating me now may not pay me off if I improve on the river. Also I do get the max against hands which think they have more outs against me than they do, like KcQx. So should I push? C-R-AI?

Scary, except you have the Ac. Whether you check and call a push or push yourself, it doesn't matter really. Check might be very marginally better here, but you ain't folding.
