View Full Version : Losing the little pots...($22)

12-15-2005, 07:23 PM
I do this occasionally and it may be a major leak of mine. No one has shown strentgh on the flop and my hand improves(although isn't that strong anyway) on the turn. If I pot this river(or anything less), how often could I get him to fold?

The board is very threatening so a bet should only be called by good hands. Villain has got his chips by catching a set and stacking someone, and then stacking another guy when his KJo turned a straight into slowplayed Aces. However, he has been in on about 75% of flops, raised or not....anyway, on to the insanity.

I'm not sure what you're hoping to accomplish by betting the turn. You will only be called by someone who has you beat, so the play has basically the same value as a bluff. Since in this case (unlike a bluff) you have some showdown value, why not just check it down?

well, I was hoping to take the pot by betting the turn. I didn't want to check it down because someone else now has a chance to steal the pot.

At the time I thought their was a signifigant chance no one would call. Is this wrong?

I don't like it. If it was an offsuit 8, say 8 /images/graemlins/spade.gif then I like it more.
