I'm a huge fan of Vanilla Sky and any movies that "mindf*ck" you. Any suggestions?

A few mentioned in movie reviews were Momento, Eyes Wide Shut, Fight Club, Jacob's Ladder and eXistenZ. I've seen the first three but not the last two- any reviews? Thanks in advance.

DarrenX - for a good mind-[censored] watch The Ice Harvest, because you will sit there and not be able to comprehend how a movie directed by Harold Ramis and starring Thornton and Cusack can be so [censored]' terrible.

Also, Memento, Jacob's Ladder, Mulholland Drive, and not the Village.

-Al

Unsure. This is the first movie that comes to mind when the term mindfcuk is thrown out there. I wish I could have seen it in the theatres.

i rented the original, spanish version, of this two days ago. it's called abre los ojos (open your eyes). i was surprised how closely vanilla sky followed it scene by scene, line by line.

you may like swimming pool. hot girl. great story. and there's a twist.

Edit: after seeing the david lynch reference. mulholland drive has hotter girls. a better story and a weirder twist.

You need to explain this movie to me. I saw about 15 minutes of it once and it was the most [censored] up thing I've ever seen. The scene I watched went something like this...

Girl in blue dress answers the door, guy comes in, acts creepy, then gets on top of her and starts dry humping her. Clothes are on. She looks up and he yells "Quit [censored] ing looking at me!" Keeps dry humping. Again she looks at him. "Goddammit, quit [censored] ing looking at me!" The third time she looks up, he punches her in the face. "I said quit [censored] ing looking at me!!!"

Not total mindfuck movies (but movies that are kinda intense that you'll find cool if you like the ones OP listed)...
Suicide Kings
Playing God

I too highly recommend:
The Game
Fight Club
Usual Suspects
MEmento
Identity

The remake of The Manchurian Candidate was pretty good. I didn't hate the Village, but it certainly wasn't as cool as any of the first three Shamalamadingdong movies (Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs).

The Mothman Prophecies was a cool one, as is The Prophecy.

It's a [censored] travesty that you watched Vanilla Sky rather than the original, Abre Los Ojos. All Amenebar's films are awesome IMHO, and as penance for your sin of allways watching unoriginal US remakes I think you should watch his back catalogue.

I'm sure you would enjoy them. They all screw with your head a little, and his films are all an exploration of Death, perhaps the most head-[censored] of subjects.

Primer was very cool - you will never, ever, ever in a million years figure out the correct timline without getting it from the internet - but you don't have to know it exactly to enjoy the movie.

Also "Following" - the first movie by the guy who did Memento.
