Hey all,

I'm going to be in LA for the next week with pretty much nothing to do other than p***r and chillin. I'd like to plan some day trips to other places (i.e. Santa Barbara, San Diego, etc...) and sort of see some sites. I'm not good at this though, so give me some ideas. Thanks.

I am hitting up matsuhisa. I checked out that sushi thread and plan on eating a lot of sushi this week, since east coast sushi blows.

I'll look into the museum.

Also looking for a good steak house.

You better start sending out tons of inside? messages to ladies in the LA area through myspace.

Also, the San Diego Zoo is awesome, don't know if that is your kind of thing or not.

Santa Barbara is nice. Getty Museum is pretty cool especially on a clear day, good views. You can chill at Hermosa Beach with some cocktails on the strand. Avoid Hollywood, just a tourist trap. Sunset Blvd. if you like to go clubbing. And oh yeah, Commerce, The Bike, Hustler etc.

I just had dinner tonight at Fogo de Chao (http://www.fogodechao.com/), which shares a parking lot with Matsuhisa.

OMG. A meat-stravaganza of epic proportions, and they make a good caipirinha. Don't fill up on the cheap meat and salad bar - hold out for the bacon+filet, garlic beef, the house-special beef and lamb chops. Try anything else that sounds good too. It's semi-pricey, which I think won't worry you but it's best with a group. I spent about $140; I think it's about $65 + drinks including tip. The hostesses were decidedly hot, but that's to be expected in that part of town.

Oh yea. If you end up in SD in the gaslamp district, swing by Fumari (http://www.fumari.com/). Still my favorite hookah bar.
