Upcoming poker movie directed by Curtis Hanson (LA Confidential) starring Eric Bana, Robert Duvall and Drew Barrymore.

Slated for an April release, so a trailer should be around the corner. If were lucky this will be good, both for entertainment value and so it can be popular enough to create a flood of new players online with IDs and avatars from the movie.

I really that they pick cool pros. Got to go with Doyle,Mike,Harman and Farha.. It would be a big let down if it was Moneymaker, Raymer and DN.

why is sam farha in this movie?
he's probably the biggest dick in poker...and he's not even part of the elite.
i don't see ivey or barry g's either...but they did pretty well with what they have.

You couldn't be more wrong. Farha is a frequent player in the big game.

Remember, many people got into poker the year Moneymaker won. So, in many eyes, Sam is the guy who was almost Moneymaker.

And he has that cigarette hanging off his lip. Ratings ahoy.

he is a good player, but danny negreanu repeatedly says how the big game caters to him to get him to play. negreanu also mentioned how during the high stakes cash game on GSN he was hoping farha would start getting stuck and then start splashing around. this doesn't sound like a solid player like a lederer, forrest type. that's all i'm saying, i believe the big game players see him as a sucker.

I also think he's a dick, after he sucked out on some guys trip aces at this year's WSOP, wanted to take a picture of him with his camera phone. why keep adding insult to injury?

As much as i would like this movie to be good i smell another "tilt" or "shade" quality, but i ll still see it. I just hope Chau Giang has a lot of speaking parts.

they filmed some scenes at my casino...something with the chick from will & grace swimming in the aquarium.

this was months ago by the way...i think they wrapped shooting here in May.

i think i read somewhere a while back that they made a mock bellagio poker room for this movie. if this is a fake room it looks great and really close to the original.

it's also pretty cool how they have the world series with the horseshoes on the table and the the hole card cameras are the old school ones like used in the 2003 wsop.

this movie will be terrible despite curtis hanson being a talented director and eric bana and robert duvall being able to act.

drew barrymore is unbearable for me to watch. add in lines like this:

*barrymore walking off from guy*
guy: what do you think you are doing?
barrymore: (cooly) ...making a good fold.

see? terrible.

i will see it in theaters naturally.
