I like watching movies, and I enjoyed Rounders (I saw this after I learned how to play)
Anyway, I think there are some more interesting movies coming out
James Bond's Casino Royale: Monsieur Le Chiffre, a French gangster, uses the profits from his casino to fund terrorists. But he has made the mistake of misappropriating their funds. Le Chiffre plans to recoup the loss at a gambling tournament. James Bond is sent to make sure he doesn't win.

(Sounds fkn hilarious) http://imdb.com/title/tt0381061/

And the cool one I cant wait for is "Amarillo Slim" played by Nicolas Cage ::

You'll have to wait. It's just hype, not a movie.

Have you seen Cincinnati Kid? A lot of poker mistakes, but if you overlook them, you might enjoy.

Even if it ever did come out, I'm not sure I could let myself spend money on it since some small amount of it would benefit Amarillo Slim directly. I didn't know much about what kind of guy he was until a few months ago when he stayed at Winstar for a while, where my sister works. After hearing how he treated my sister and the other girls there, I have no respect for him. A promotional deal with Winstar fell through because of how he acted. He isn't even allowed on the property anymore.

Maybe he molested them.

I'm not sure why you think Casino Royale sounds like it'll be hilarious. Casino Royale was actually the first JB book ever written and I'm quite frankly really surprised that they never made a movie out of it.

The '67 Casino Royale was a 'spoof' film butI think it should be considered a legitimate film...http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061452/

anyways i think it hasn't been made yet over some rights contestation battles

On the DVD packaging, it says "The Best Poker Movie Ever Made." Is that true?

I think at the time, 1965, it was the only poker movie...

Personally, I enjoyed it. More than Rounders. Then again, maybe it's a "generational" thingie. I like Damon and Norton, but I was/am a monster fan of E.G. Robinson and Steve McQ. Add to that duo, Ann-Margaret and Tuesday Weld, two of my fave "fantasy make-out" ladies, I was one very, very happy camper.

There were a lot more "names" and comers in the cast, too. ('65?)

My fave line (paraphrase) - Lancey (E.G.) to The Kid (Steve M.): "You're good, Kid, real good. But as long as I'm at the table, you'll always be second best."

Rent it if you can.

This half way applies. "The Sting". Not really a poker movie, but it does have poker in it.

Someone mentioned "The Sting" as a poker move?

Well - if that qualifies, then my favorite is "The Odd Couple"!!

Thats why I clarified that it's not really a poker movie, but it has a great poker scene in it. On the train with Robert Shaw and Paul Newman. If we listed every movie that is solely about poker this thread would be awefully short. And for the record, the odd couple was pretty sweet /images/graemlins/grin.gif

My sister works in the hotel, so she had less contact with him than some of the others, but his conduct in general was inappropriate. The things he said and did easily qualify as sexual harassment, although I don't remember the specifics. I believe he may have touched a couple of the girls inappropriately, and I know that he said many things that he shouldn't have. Some of what he said wouldn't be so bad (IMO) if it were an isolated incident, but taken in context with everything else he said and did during that visit, it was unacceptable. I know that it was bad enough that they were changing the schedule to get more guys working to replace some of the girls while he was there. Also, they made it clear that only males could drive the shuttle from the hotel to the casino when he rode. I guess they were in the process of working out a promotional deal for the casino, but they canceled that idea and ended up banning him from all of the Chickasaw properties.

They have a HUGE stack of em at the local Best Buy. Even has a featurette from Phil Gordon and that other guy that hosts Celebrity Poker.
