View Full Version : You know you're a degenerate when... (Wynn Story)

12-13-2005, 08:58 PM
I played in the $330 tourney today at Wynn and got seated at table 22 which is where the final table is for my first table. The players sit down and we are dealt the first couple of hands. The table is right next to the rail and one of the players wives is watching him play. She calls him over about 2 hands into the tourney and he comes back all frantic.

He tells the dealer that his wifes water just broke and she needs to go to a hospital. He then starts thinking that he just bought into this tourney that just began and doesn't want to leave. He actually thinks about wether to go to the hospital or stay in the tourney.

The Wynn staff was kind enough to refund his money and put an alternate at the table, but still, kinda interesting story.

No, a player thinking he has a tough decision in a FREEROLL would be a degenerate.

$300 still a lot of money to some of us.

And a pregnant wife is more important than $300 to most of us

well, iof they don't refund... this is an easy push

Must have been his first kid, otherwise he could have sent his wife to the hospital, played out the tourney, and had plenty of time to arrive with cigars and champagne

This is why you should not go with your wife to a casino. Always complaining.

If the wife was that close to labor, its bad enough he was in a pokerroom. She can have liftoff at any time so as a husband he needs to be ready to take her to the hospital on que. Plus the sheer fact she was that close to labor and in a casino also is a bad sign.

We were wondering the same thing because you aren't supposed to fly during the third trimester. Apparently she was very early and her water just broke while she was standing 4 feet from us. She looked very uncomfortable and I felt very bad for her. The guy kept coming over to kiss her on the cheek saying it will be OK, then looking at his holecards, folding, then running around to ask for the staff's help.

$300 is nothing compared to the $100's of thousands it costs to raise a child to 18

In the pre-cellphone days, I was carrying a rented beeper when my wife was due.

When that beeper went off to announce the imminent delivery of our second child, I was in a $4-8 game at the Luxor. Decided to play until my blind came around. Won a huge pot UTG. Told the dealer to deal around me, and started racking up.

Someone asked, "You're gonna leave right after winning that huge pot?"

"Yup. Gotta go, my wife's having a baby."

Everyone laughed.

"No, really, my wife really is having a baby."

They didn't believe me. They were convinced I was pulling the old hit and run.

Complete and total moronic a**hole. Someone said it's a lot of money to some people. If $330 means that much to you, you shouldn't be playing. Truly amazing how fuckn stupid some people can be. $330 poker tourney vs your wife in labor? Fckn amazing.

You don't know my wife. When she says, "Time to go to the hospital," you're lucky if you see crowning within 24 hours.
