Is anybody (everybody?) making this move here on LVL2? Even without a read, villain's range is huge!....Isn't it?

Seat 1: (585)
Seat 2: (960)
Seat 5: (2150)
Seat 6: (505)
Villain: (145)
Hero (920)
Seat 9: (515)
Seat 10: (2220)
Seat 2: posts small blind (15)
Seat 5: posts big blind (30)
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to Hero [ A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif ]
Seat 6: calls (30)
Villain raises (145) to 145
Villain is all-In.
Hero pushes

What kind of "move" is this? Why not just call? Why not fold?

Honestly, it is level 2. What are you gaining by calling? There is even a good chance small stack villain has you dominated.

This is bad bad bad bad on so many levels.

And pushing over top! Bad!

Even if villian had limped I would fold. Too many donkeys to act.

i'd fold this 100% of the time, unless i could somehow put villain on exactly a worse ace or worse ten.

As mentioned below, this is a bad play at LVL2. In my opinion, with a lot people to follow, it is too likely your AdTd is dominated. It could be the best hand 70% of the time, but do you want to run into that other 30% at level 2? Also, UTG limped. He looks weak here, but an UTG limp should always raise your eyebrows. Also, there are a couple of bigger stacks that can take you and not be crippled for LVL2 blinds. Too much risk for villian's 145 in chips.

When the blinds are up to say 150 or more, and there are less players, this becomes a great move in my book.

All right, I'll dig the hole deeper. This was not a "move" I make regularly, but I don't think it is all THAT bad. Players behind are also thinking "only LVL2, not worth risk", so I expect to be HU the vast majority of times. I am about 50/50 with villain's range. If lose I am down to about t800 which is fine for me at LVL2. If I win, I am up to about 1200 which is great for LVL2. And if I do get called behind, I am coin flip enough that I like the chance to double up this early. If I lose I am firing up another.

So, if we look at this in from hourly rate perspective, I think this ain't 5 bads bad. I wouldn't do this if I had t800 now, but I like the padding I have.
