View Full Version : Good Over Evil can be a Texas Hold'em Nightmare...

Holding on to ones faith is not an easy task when faced with so many choices and so many decisions. But, the holy scriptures tell us, the all mighty bell curve will save us from the depths of chip destruction. If we will only live by the law of positive numerical expectation. The high priests of mathematical equations swear they have been to the mountain and have seen the face of the all mighty bell curve. The soul of our bankroll will be delivered into the promise land of glorious stacks of chips, if we will only believe and live a life of patience.

The world of Texas Hold'em is a huge melting pot of the faithful and the un-faithful. Like all the great religions of the world the path to heaven is at best a rocky road of free choice. The choice of good over evil lies between a thin line of free choice. Each man must choose for himself the path he will take to get to chip heaven. Blind faith is needed when one is mathematically challenged. Those who spend their life counting, multiplying and dividing are of course the religious fanatics. For the rest of us blind faith is our guiding light.

But, the sinners and blasphemers tempt fate with their disrespect for the logic of positive numerical expectation. They laugh at the poker god and spit at his bell curve with all of it's numerical commandments. And yet he did not punch them for their sins and blasphemy this week. He is a benevolent minor god who is patient to a fault and rewards the sinners with huge stacks of chips. He forsakes those with blind faith, for he has a sick sense of humor and constantly challenges the faithful. For in the final analysis he is the god of long term results. He promises the faithful their just rewards if they will stand firm against the devil of gambling delight. He will let injustice prevail, for faith must be tested and forged into a rock before any reward is granted. Entering chip heaven comes with a heavy price and the path is an emotional up and down road that will tear your heart into million pieces. The cards have no respect for talent and the poker god will forsake you in the short run. 66.5 hours of blind faith this week for the SPM with a 2.24 hourly rate of positive chip return. The road down Patience Avenue pretty much sucked this week as did blind faith while the sinners and blasphemers got a hernia carrying home tons of racks chips and smiles on their faces.

SPM,...my faith is being tested, and I hate it...

SPM,

Long term results for the sinners will put them in the hole. Don't let short term results fool you.

Good Luck
