I want to buy one of these for my father-in-law for Christmas. I think it would be a lot of fun to have one. Anyone know where to buy one? If you have one, anything I should know?

You own this one? It works well? It is worth the extra $70 for this one because? I can buy it at Best Buy and avoid the shipping? You're helpful how?

He doesn't answer. Presumably because he doesn't have one. So he answered 1 out of 2 of your questions. That's how he was helpful. If you only wanted responses from people who have experience with these perhaps you should have said so.

I pointed you to what seemed to be the most popular brand based upon 30 seconds of web research. I don't drink and drive so I've had no use for one as yet. If I were to start however, this is one of the ones I would consider purchasing.

Maybe I'm just grumpy from being up all night, but it looks like he typed breathalyzer into google and linked the first page. That's not helpful b/c, as I hope anyone else would do before posting a question like this, I googled the product before asking for input.

I own that one and it worked well for about a year and then gave out(all the readings are WAYYYYY low). I think I got it on ebay for like 75 so check that out.

I'm actually in the market for a new one now. Hmmm.

PS i owned one of those 30 dollar ones first and it was a pos. Stay away from those.

/edit just bought it for 85 shipped on ebay.

Sorry but you must be new to forums, assuming the a OP has any logical background behind his motivation to post will only lead to disaster most of the time.

My friend bought an alcohawk and it was tons of fun to get sloppy and go for the high score.

Here is the inspiration for getting it (http://www.tuckermax.com/archives/entries/the_famous_sushi_pants_story.phtml#277)

Your old one will be just fine, you just have to send it in and get it calibrated. They suggest doing this every 6 months. Go to the company website and figure out where to send it.

I had one of the cheapies and it worked well for about 3 months. Now all it does is read out .40! However, it was a lot of fun while I had it.
