Having considered the awesomeness that is Cousin Eddie in the Vacation flicks, I wondered if there are any more great secondary characters that crack you up something rotten or who you're glad when they appear on screen...
Here's some of mine:
Cousin Eddie - Vacation
Eugene Levy as the dad - American Pie
Marshall - Alias (the gadget guy)
The Kung-Fu, zombie-kicking Vicar - DeadAlive (aka Braindead) ("I kick ass for the lord!")
Officer Dan - Married with Children

The geeky lab tech in Law and Order
Admiral Oswald in Empire Strikes Back (or any incompetent Empire officer, which is almost all of them)
Q from Star Trek
Ed's dad (Sting) in Lock, Stock
Stephen the crazy Irishman in Braveheart

How about Peter Stormare in everything he's in?
He pretty much kicked ass in The Big Lebowski, Armageddon, Minority Report and Fargo.

This list should start and end with George Costanza, unless he's considered the main character. I always thought he was complementary to Jerry as a sidekick.

I think George is too "main" to be considered. Newman would qualify as secondary.

Jeff on "Curb Your Enthusiasm". If he's too main, I always enjoy watching Susie (his wife) rip into Larry David.

The TV character that originated the unexpected comedic entrance (e.g. Lenny and Squiggy, Kramer, etc.) is my favorite. Too bad you kids missed it.

Major Hockstetter (sp?) on Hogan's Heroes. Killed me.
Mr Drysedale on Beverly Hillbillies. Stole every scene.
The Mole, South Park movie. Stole the whole film.
Charlie Utter, Deadwood, because he reminds me of someone I know.
Charmayne Buco on The Sopranos. Girl can act, wish they'd find more for her to do than whine to Artie.
Lt Fancy, NYPD Blue. Same thing, great actor, never had anything to do.
Simpsons- Pre-sobriety Barney
Family Guy- Quagmire

There are probably 7 in True Romance
Gary Oldman- Drexel
Dennis Hopper- Clarence's Dad
Brad Pitt- Floyd (Dick Richey's roommate)
Christopher Walken- Blue Lou Boyles's (sp?) right hand man
Val Kilmer- Elvis (Clarence's alter ego)
Tom Sizemore (cop...and I rarely like the cops in movies)
Sean Penn (cop)
Is the cop in The Professional (Gary Oldman) considered a secondary character? What about Dennis Hopper in Blue Velvet?

Jesus Quintana in the Big Lebowski
Frank Pentagale(sp?) in Godfather II
