View Full Version : Some SnG Math?

hey, i'm having trouble doing some math for sngs, or really knowing if it's an important thing to consider.

consider these facts:
-4 SnG's at once = a session
-Payout structure is about %50, 30, 20
-1 table, 9 people

mathematically how often do i have to place and how high, in each session, to show good or any profit at all?

Read the FAQ for more details.

The "how high" you place part is vital, since 1st place finishes are significantly worth more than 2nd place finishes. You could place 50%, but if they're all 3rds, it is unprofitable. Likewise, you could place 33% of the time, but if they're all 1st's it's profitable.

Good profit also depends on what level SNGs you're playing.

you should figure out your ROI (return on investment). That number is more important. You will know how much you are making a game and can get your hourly rate, which appears to be what you are looking for. If you play 4 games at a time and play continuously (add one when one busts) I figure roughly 6 games an hour. Maybe more. Hope that helps.
