Whats it all about? Could the founding fathers of New Jersey have thought of a better name?

Is this the first Garden State Parkway-specific thread, or have I just missed all the others?

But yeah, Cheesequake is a bizarre name. Sounds like something the marketing department thought up. Watch out! CHEESE-QUAKE!!!!

"Cheesequake State Park got its unusual name from a word of forgotten meaning from the Leni-Lenape Indians who fished and hunted in the area long ago."

interesting. but i guess the meaning will now forever remain a mystery.

cheesequake is a small town on the Garden State Parkway in new jersey, which is the primary driving route between NYC and AC.

all rest stops and toll plazas on that highway are named after the towns they are located in (no matter how obscure), hence how cheesequake rest stop became a trivia question for east coast gamblers.

Cheesequake sounds like something your stomach might to after some pizza and way too much beer.

It's a bit south of the Vince Lombardi rest stop isn't it? I haven't lived back east for a while.
