View Full Version : Travelling next year, where to go & advice??

I should make it clear that I need to have access to the net nearly every day, so that probally limits where I can go and what I do. I'm not in a rush to see everything all at once, so moving to just 1 country for a few months is fine.

Here what I can give you to work with:

1. Need to connect to the net nearly every day with a decent connection.

2. Warm climate (warm to me is hot for most of you).

3. Hot girls (latinish is my preference).

I guess from my choices it looks like SE asia or south/central america are where most of my options are, although hawaii and miami sound good, or maybe spain/southern france. Cost estimates say per week would be good for suggestions.

Wouldn't mind hearing net options. Most of these places would have net cafes? How about hotels or appartments with decent net connections? I'd need to take my laptop, although I could probally get away with a PDA.

Most of my 'work' would be sportsbetting, and poker would just be to breakeven on expenses (an hr a day would do it /images/graemlins/wink.gif)

If I could do this while travelling that'd be cool, but since I need to connect to the net most days (or until I find someone to work for me /images/graemlins/wink.gif), I think travelling is pretty limited.

Ah yeh, hookahs aren't my thing so that won't have any influence on my decision.

uuhhh, can you say Amsterdam...hands down the best destination.

if you like spaniards, Barcelona is another great destination.

I would say stay clear of South America...Europe pwns.

miami sound good

Miami is nice. Warm climate. Lots of "latinish" girls. Obviously the interweb is readily available. But cost of living is ridiculously expensive here relative to some other places further south. If I were young and unattached and looking to travel someplace warm for awhile, I'd look elsewhere.

Miami is cheaper than where I live (Sydney). Miami or hawaii I'd probally stay longer to take advantage of the cheap cars /images/graemlins/wink.gif

I think maybe costa rica is winning atm.

Maybe it's changed in the last 10 years, but I don't think you will find many Latin girls in SE Asia, but Thai girls on the other hand.............Sounds like Miami or Spain is what you are looking for.

Just checked out euro climates, too cold since this will be from february. Miami is out too, little too cold for feb/march. Hawaii is still in though. Why do you recomend against south america??

If speak Spanish/Portuguese then Rio is what you are seeking. Hawaii, Tahiti and any South Seas island meets your weather requirement but will be lacking Latin women.

By latin I just mean preference, not that they had to be latin. I like tan + dark hair, and latinas just happen to usually look that way /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Looks like miami and spain aren't warm enough in early part of the year. I HATE the cold, I guess it's my genes.

I've got a friend that lives down in BA playing poker. He loves it, says its cheaper than anywhere in the States, and there's a great expat network of 20-somethings. Hasn't ever complained about the internet service.

Check out Hawaii, it has the climate and I'm sure you could make do with Hawaiian women /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Only problem is climate (heard great things about argentina). During the summer it's warm, but by april it's probally cooling down quite a bit (like Sydney).

12-12-2005, 10:38 AM
Not sure about the weather at that time of year, but Argentina is as awesome choice. Buenos Aires is a great city, and there is so much to see elsewhere in the country.

I would avoid Costa Rica to be hoinest. Other places in Central America have much more going for them (for example, Guatemala is probably the best place I have ever been).

Acapulco is very cheap, always warm, and it has two sportsbooks (only sports though, no casinos yet).

I think I'll just do the hostel thing. Keeps me free and all I really need is a room with a bed and access to the net.

I think I'll do the whole world while I'm at it, how long should I give it ???

Try pm'ing unarmed. I don't know how often he visits 2+2 anymore, but he recently spent some time in Hawaii living it up and playing a certain online game every day.

Yeh pretty much decided to start in south america. Start in argentina so I'm not that when it starts to get cold, and work my way up through to central america, then hit miami and vegas. Then fly to europe do the same thing there, some of africa, then asia and then back home to aus. Sounds like alot of fun, good experiences and a way to get a taste for what each country has to offer. Also a good way to save money (no plasma tv, no car, cheaper expenses etc). Why didn't I do this in 2005 /images/graemlins/confused.gif

How's the nightlife??

Buenos Aires is where you need to be. I lived there for 6 months, and had a crazy time. The women are incredible. Everything is cheap (read:liquor, steak, hookers), nightlife is crazy every day, clubs stay open til 7am daily. You're pretty much always within a couple blocks of an internet cafe. The women are incredible.

Everyone who keeps saying this makes me feel like living there for a bit. Any suggestions about areas to stay?? (22, male /images/graemlins/wink.gif).

Ok. If I got something like a nokia 9300 would I be able to get decent enough coverage in south/central america for sportsbetting? I'm thinking it's better to just do a crazy week of poker (that'd cover 6months expenses lol) instead of playing on the road, which means I only need the net for sportsbetting. A connection from a mobile phone would be pretty convenient since I could 'work' from anywhere, and not have to worry about finding a net cafe.

Is this doable??

which mobile providers are world wide? How do u plan on using your nokia 9300 when there is no mobile service, u do understand different regions have different providers? Also, get a small man purse, mainly because people love to steal, so you'll have to wear your small man purse UNDER you clothes.

"which mobile providers are world wide?"

I was asking if any where.

"How do u plan on using your nokia 9300 when there is no mobile service"

Looks like there are better options than the 9300, and I'm hoping that there will be enough coverage to make this doable.

"u do understand different regions have different providers?"

Yes.

"Also, get a small man purse,"

And have strange men reaching down my pants??

I don't think my idea will work. Probally end up more inconvenient than just buying a PDA and using a net cafe. I don't want my next phone to be an expensive brick anyway.
