View Full Version : crushing a game ?

12-12-2005, 07:44 AM
i have read a lot of posts where ppl are saying that they are crushing a particular level of Sng.
im just wondering, what does your ROI has to be ,for example at the $55 level and over what sample size, that you can confidently say, your crushing that level?

I'd say 20%. Of course I think it is a stupid term to use when we have more accurate ways to describe our results.

and what sample size would you say is a good indicator ?
also does your ITM % really matter at all or is it just the ROI that matters?
thanks for the info in advance.

I'd say that its $/hr at any given level. I might have a higher ROI but only be 4 tabling whereas someone who is 12 tabling could have half the ROI I do but be showing 1.5x the profit. If you could play 10 tables with a 20% ROI, you'd be making twice someone playing 1 with a 100%.

Geez perg...Caps on "The Downswing"...I know you made a big post about it here and all...but didnt realize you wrote a book and they made a movie too!

Who plays you? Matt Damon? Or Tupac? (cas he's not dead).

To Donkbluffer: Of course it includes the downswing...Why would anyone here only post ROIs regarding their good runs? lol

To OP: I consider whatever my ROI is at the moment to be considered "crushing". Mainly because I will not accept anything less from myself, "crushing" is the absolute minimum I expect. If that happens to be -10% then so be it.

If you don't include my downswings, my ROI is about 360%. But then again 60% of my games are downswings.

I want to help you relive The Downswing a little in a painful, yet funny way. Remove the 82 OOTM in a row you had and look how much $$$$$$$$$ you could be using to buy me a christmas present with.

Post the results here. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I know this is a noob question however I am.

Until recently I was a limit ring game player who started diving into SnG's

when you guys refer to your ROI vs. # of SnG's played I have no clue how much profit this is.

how do I go about working that out?

Impressive. I wouldn't mind if you sent me some ROI-points (money's ok too).

And ROI is Return On Investment. If you'd play SNG's with a $100 buy-in, a 10% ROI would mean you made $10 profit per SNG. The more SNG's, the more confident you can be that your ROI is close to your 'true' ROI. That means that if you've played less than 1000 SNG's your stats don't mean a lot.

Generally speaking, he's making a s***load for the level he's playing.

To find out for yourself, multiply the # of SnG's by the ROI % by the Buy-in. --> (# of SnGs)*(ROI)*(BI)= $$

No, you should count the $5 fee too. So 2300 * $55 * 0.196 = a lot

I use 19.6% because he also has that rakeback on top of his ROI, which is profit too of course. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
