View Full Version : Laying Down Overpairs

When, if ever, do you lay down overpairs in an SNG when it's only you and one other player in the pot? I almost always play the PP 11s, so I'm basically looking for some low buyin advice here. There are obvious situations like 4-flushes. However, assuming a fairly innocuous board, do you ever lay them down?

Thanks,
Will

youve had a few threads like this recently, asking for general rules on how to act in SNGs. i think we all wish it were that easy.

im sure we could all throw out a bunch of hypotheticals about potential situations this might be correct... but ultimately, its all situational.

i dunno, maybe im being difficult. i guess ill just say this: at the 11s, i dont think looking for situations to fold overpairs is the right mindset. so many people are just dying to give their chips to you with top (or middle) pair. let them.

and, in general, instead of threads like these, i think its a lot more helpful to post hands that you thought were marginal/difficult, and you can gradually learn how to handle these situations through the analysis of some of the great posters on this forum.

gl at the tables sir =)

That hand looks perfectly fine. You might consider pushing the turn, but it doesn't really make a huge difference.
