He died full of days, as they say. In my part of the world, one does not mourn such passing but rather takes the opportunity to muse a bit about life in general and the deceased's contribution in this world - and perhaps spill a little wine on his memory. I would not expect beer nor pizza in such occasions.

Eugene McCarthy managed to rise above the riff raff of American politics and served his country well. And we, in turn, "got clean for Gene". If it wasn't for RFK's grab for the candidacy, he could have had a serious shot at LBJ - and the White House.
