Party 10/20 (4 handed)

BB here is 60/10 and will see the river with any two as long as he's not facing big aggression from multiple players. I like him. He'll fire about half the time on the the flop or turn if it's checked to him.

I open A /images/graemlins/club.gifQ /images/graemlins/club.gif in CO, TAG#1 3-Bets, TAG#2 folds, BB calls, I call (thinking back I have no idea why I didn't cap, but I think the turn is most interesting here).

Flop comes A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif4 /images/graemlins/heart.gifJ /images/graemlins/heart.gif

BB checks, I check, CO bets, BB calls, I c/r, both call.

Turn comes 3 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

I strongly consider checking with the intention of c/ring again. I think this is a perfect time for it. Anyone like that line?

i dont see how u can think this is perfect time a checkraise...
if the button bets, youre prob a dog to have the best hand, he is checking alot.
also, capping preflop here is automatic.

I think I'm representing a flush draw pretty well. That was my thinking behind it anyway. I definitely agree preflop, that was just a mistake.

Edit-Thought for a minute that BB was acting last. Disregard that if you saw it.

If the river is a heart they may either:
1) Have a flush to beat you
2) Give you minimal action

If the river is a diamond they may beat you with a flush.

If the river is some ridiculous shiznats you might lose to random-2pair.

EDIT -> I cant read at all. I somehow thought hero was button on the turn.

Anyways, The tag might be setting up a a raise anyways, so why not bet/3bet instead of c/r the turn

You will either:

a) give your opponent(s) a chance to check behind when you have the best hand
b) convince your opponent to fold a much worse hand (KK etc)
c) get eyeball raped by a much better hand
d) get 1 or 2 more BB out of hands that range from nearly dead to quite live

You have to remember that you shouldn't just trying to get as much action as possible into the pot when you think you have the best hand. There's a fine line. There's only so much action your opponent's hand can sustain before he knows he's too much of a dog to continue (he already knows he's a dog, but a small one), and there's only so much action your hand can sustain before you must be a huge dog. You want to walk a tightrope where you make his hand range pay as much as possible without crossing that red line where you're putting in too much money yourself. These ideas combined with the risk of your opponents checking behind make this a really poor play in almost every possible perspective.

Thanks, that's a really good post. It was the idea that BB was calling both bets on turn for sure if it worked that made me consider it. Probably FPS though, you're right that there's plenty wrong with the line. FWIW I led the turn, but I thought it was an interesting idea and wanted to hear some thoughts.
