View Full Version : Is my dad cheating on my mom?

Saturday morning, and my dad tells me I have to wake up at 10:00 if I want to go to lunch with him (normally, we wake up at 11:00 to pick up my little sister). Then, he tells me I can't stay in the car and listen to some music, so he's going to drop me off at the library.

Note: Saturday morning is the only time during the weekend when my mom is going to be consistently out, and my sister is in school (chinese school, don't ask).

Even worse, about 6 months or so ago, my mom came out and flat out told me that my dad was having an affair with his secretary.

I'm still in HS, so tell me
A) WTF is going on?
and
B) WTF do I do?

Bang the secretary

Let them live their lives. You are old enough to live with whatever they throw at you and it is not about you.

If you need money, consider extortion. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Did your dad have a raging hard-on while he was driving you to the library? If so, he's having an affair. Either that, or he thinks you're cute.

Because my parents have had a lousy marriage for a long time, and I guess it didn't really surprise me that much, considering how emotional my mom gets (I probably subconsciously knew for a while).

I'm asking if my dad is cheating on my mom now, not in the past.

Obviously, my mom broke it up when she found out.

And no, my dad's not Christmas shopping. He's never surprised me for Christmas, plus, this year, I don't want for anything (changes when I go to college).

Agreed.

Similarly, if this was all that distessing I imagine you would've made a post about this..well..6 months ago. Must be something else you're worried about.

Talk to both parents independently. tell them that you are on a thin string and likely to commit suicide if they were ever to break up.

Nothing is better for you than keeping two people together and screwing up their lives for your benefit, and you may get some gifts from it. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Finally the obvious. And learn to tell a [censored] story. Reading this, I had no idea what the hell you wwere talking about.

Why the hell would your mom tell you that anyway? That's pretty messed up.

wait i don't really understand your story. so your dad wakes you up an hour earlier than normal to go out to lunch , and then at some point you want to stay in the car (where are you now?) and listen to music ? but he makes you go to the library ? what is he suppose to be doing while you're the library / what is suppose to be happening while you listened to music in the car ? is going to the library something you do normally , or is him making you to go the library very unusual ?

i feel like you forgot to include an important part of the story.

[censored] situation. i was in the same when i was in high school (and beyond).

theres really nothing you can do. you gotta let them live how they want. however, you shouldnt let your dad jerk you around and hide you certain places like the library.

also, it really sucks if you have to become an intermediary betweend the 2. started to happen to me and when i realized it i flat said im not discussing your relationship anymore.

so, to be more clear, do your best to stay completely out of it and you may have to stand up for yourself some to do this.

Your mom is far more f'ed up than your dad. Do you see why he is cheating on her? I do.

Because he is only staying with her for you. Your father loves you, and wouldn't want you live in a house without 2 parents even though he is not happy with your mom. In an odd way, thats rather admirable. He is putting your needs before his own.

PS: He was out shopping for x-mas you noob.

I don't think that this gives the father the right to [censored] around behind the back of this guy's mother, who he also loves. it'd be more admirable if his father was able to keep his [censored] in his pants until his kids graduated high school.

if it were me I would wait for a while (like, after xmas) to try to figure out to a reasonable level of certainty that he's cheating on her. then I would talk with my siblings about it, because it's their family too. if they're not old enough then you have to make a decision.

honestly I couldn't look at my father the same if I knew he was doing this. I wouldn't want him in my house. but I think your best course of action is dependant on what you can live with, and how much a confrontation will stress you out.
