In our 6/12 home game Sunday night I noticed another player had a cool card protector/good luck charm. I had been folding for a good 30 minutes and asked him if I could use it to bring me some luck. He said sure and wouldn't you know it worked. The very next hand I pick up AQ suited in middle position and open raise. Now for irony, he 3 bets me out of the SB. He is a solid player and I know my hand is 2nd best right now. I tap my cards for luck with the charm and call. The flop comes K J x. He suspiciously checks. I think he may be looking for a check raise, so I check along. The turn is a blank. Now he bets. I feel he has the best hand still, but I don't know how good it is. I don't even bother to count the pot odds (I've got luck on my side) and call. I might be good if an A or Q comes. The river is a 10 making my broadway. He bets, I raise and he calls with his AK. Now he has the audacity to take back his charm. Bastard.
