I've got this thing my friends call a culture gap where I don't know so much about things like these bugs -- Beatles, Stones, Led Zeppelin...

So I'm thinking I should buy some books that will bring me up to speed on these things. Am I better off just reading the Wiki pages for these bands Rolling Stones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rolling_Stones), The Beatles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_beatles), Led Zeppelin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Led_zeppelin).

wiki is good too. Look up the one on just Jimmy Page (john Paul Jones is probably a good one too). They were both big name hired guns in the early-mid sixties London area.

Is the All Music Guide (http://www.allmusic.com/) to obvious? Go there, search the band, follow the results to their biographies. Listen to samples.

While there check out Chuck Berry, Little Richard, etc.
