A little late for Ray’s Animal post but here is some news of little ones.
Went fishing this evening and saw a Mother duck (Mallard) and 6 ducklings. They were in some tall grass right by the stream and ambled out when I passed. Two at first then the mother, then 4 others and they all slipped into the water and scooted upstream, mother in the lead of course. I was heading downstream but I watch them for a while. They all had to cross a small downed tree in the stream and it was amusing to see each little duckling half swim, half scoot and crawl over the tree, all in order mine you. When I came back out, fishing all the way; I caught up with them again. Mother ushered all six little ones to the stream bank and then hustled them all up on high ground behind some trees and brush. She only had to bark out a few orders as they were all well behaved and keep fairly quiet.
There is so much more to fishing than fishing.
