In 2-handed: Which blind normally has the button?

I know that it should be the small blind, but at Pokerroom.com where I went yesterday to practise heads-up, the big blind had the button. Is this normal or what?

Were you at a normal ring game table but happened to be playing headsup?


I believe I've seen this explained thusly:


The small blind in a ring game is always to the left of the button. So, the online software always puts the sb to the left of the button and since there's no place for the bb to go headsup, the button gets it.


It's the same at Pokerstars. Dunno about Paradise.
