Good fold. Flop bet may be a bit small however, IMHO. I'm not really a fan of weak continuation bets, it's just asking to get raised and leave you in a quandry. However, the last thing you want to do here is sink 1.1k or something into this pot where you are going to fold to a raise or have no idea what to do on the turn if he just flat calls.

Scary flop indeed, and you'll want to bring a bigger gun next time you mess with someone who has nearly 2x your stack.

Oh and the limp with 8's here isn't good.

I don't like the limp. With your stack, I think you can raise 8's from your position, you'll likely get a lot of respect. Raising forces your opponents to define his hand a little more by calling or re-raising (and if SB re-raises, I'm either calling for set value or folding) and puts you in control of the betting. This aggression gives you an edge against broadway hands.

Villain's check-raise screams strength, if I had to guess an exact hand I'd say A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif K, but a made flush or set is possible too. He doesn't seem at all concerned about playing a big pot out of position with another large stack or about letting you draw. I think this is an easy fold.
