I'm now happy I slandered you in the John Cole is seeking employment posts. I can only assume you are temporarily insane due to the Sox being shut out by the Tigers yesterday.

Andy,

Yes, temporarily insane. A friend sent me an email today which contained a story about "amputee wannabees" that referenced this film. Seems there's a listserv for these people, and it boasts 3700 or so members (no pun intended).

gee john, this is something i wish i didn't know about.

btw, did taxpayer dollars fund this film? it sounds like something the NEA/whatever would get behind. my right wing rant now over, www.filmthreat.com (http://www.filmthreat.com) does look like a cool film site.

Rick,

You mean you didn't like "Piss Christ"? /forums/images/icons/grin.gif BTW, when Bill Bennett headed the NEA, he took 30k and funded a Vietnam War propaganda film after he saw PBS's rather bland series on Vietnam. 30K was the most he was authorized to spend without approval.

While some bad art may be funded by the NEA, if we all lived in Bennett's universe we'd be reading children's books about moral virtues.

Rick,

The problem: we'd have to avoid any tricky stuff, like say Burroughs, Genet, Joyce, Twain, Beckett. Ya know, any of that literature stuff.
