Take the poll & comment.

I had a real bad swing a few months ago where I dropped like 15 buy ins in the $400-$600 games.

Bad beats, bad situations, some tilt, cold cards... really really sucked.

I've won it all back, and then some, though.

The aggressiveness of your play style certainly dictates the buy in swings both good and bad... Worst was a month back dropped 10 400NL within a couple days.Got a little bit cold decked, little bit tilty and a lot weak tighty twoard the end of the swing. Big 10+ downswings hurt.

Went into a 2 week breakeven period, looked at pokertracker and realized my aggression had to decreased to the level of a pussy. Kicked it back into top gear and won 20 buyins in 3 days and have been cruising upward since.

Always monitor your aggression level in pokertracker.

lost 3k in one day. 5 buyins of 400nl then 9 straight 100 sitngoes no cashins. That day sucked.

Went through a horrible stretch a few months ago where I lost about 13 buy-ins in under two weeks. It was especially bad since I play a pretty low-variance game. Just a ridiculous stretch of KK vs. AA, set over set, ridiculous draws hitting against me, etc.

12 600nl buyins.
it sucks.
esp b/c i beat the 400's pretty handedy, and am fairing well at 1k....

so what the hell?

i was down 12 buyins over 10k hands once not that long ago. set over set, cold cards, a little tilt and the ass-end of the variance lottery. It was a good experience for me though. It prompted me to actually read Gambling Theory and Other Topics and think about fluctuations, variance, risk of ruin, standard deviation, etc etc. I always just paid lip service that [censored] but basically thought because I'd been winning for 150k hands or whatever I'd never run bad like that.

But, I think this post should go in Beats, Brags and Variance. I just felt like replying for some unknown reason.

Last month was the worst month of my life, I played 25K hands and ended up $1,000 (NOTHING when you play NL 400 up to NL 1,000)

Thank god this month is being good to me, up $6,775 so far this month, and that's not counting a $600 euro bonus or rakeback at 32%.

Playing NL 200 and 400 I made 8500 in October and ended November down 2 grand for the month. December is looking better so far though, but variance sucks.

8 buy-in in about 200 k hands of 1/2 - 2/4 - 3/6, mainly 6 max.

8 buyins over 200000 hands is a consistent (albeit not too bad) loss, not a couple thousand hand downswing.

heu ? 8 buy-in is my worst downswing in a 200 k hands sample, not my result.

I think there's a forum for this.

31 buyins in SnGs, 250 PTBB in NL ring.

7 buyins in a matter of 2.5 hours at 5/10. Hitting second-best hands heads up is a bitch.

19 in the last two days, but I did lose a 30 buyin pot with one pair so I am really up 11 buyins for the two days. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

A 30 buy in pot? Your AA vs. something else all in?

12-10-2005, 12:58 AM
How the hell do you even get into a situation where 2 people have 30 buyins at a table?

Sorry sorry I am drunk half that 15 buyin, $7500 at $3/$5, I can't do math in my head, it is posted in high stakes, I made a bad river read and then call.
