Post your favorite SNL "character" for eventual poll. For example, Billy Crystal's "Fernando", Dana Carvey's "Church Lady", Eddie Murphy's "Mr. Robinson", etc. Please include actor/character name.

Too many, but here are a few:

Opera Man - Sandler
Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer - Hartman
Hans & Franz - Carvey/Nealon
The Continental - Christopher Walken
Subliminal Man - Nealon

12-08-2005, 01:37 PM
Eddie Murphy - Mr. Robinson

If an impersonation counts as a character, I'd nominate Eddie Murphy as Stevie Wonder. I still sing "Ebony and Ivory" that he did with Joe Piscopo as Sinatra:

You are black
I am white
Life's an eskimo pie, let's take a bite
That was groovy thinkin', Lincoln
When you set them free.....

Also, I'd nominate Phil Hartman as Sinatra and Clinton.

Not necessarily. If there was a one-shot that was so great it blows away recurring characters, by all means list it.

In order to keep this list manageable, perhaps impersonations of actual people should be left off? Original characters only. Just a thought. Though I'd hate to take Lipton or Connery off the list.

I'd also prefer to keep impersonations on. Although we could easily create two polls, one for original characters, one for impersonations.
