I am conflicted... you can find info about the movie here... (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10342237/)
on one hand, this is a gay cowboy movie - there is at least one min. of dudes kissing, from what I understand.
On the other hand, I understand Anne Hathaway makes a topless appearance.
and to add to the conflict - Ang Lee and James Schamus also made Crouching Tiger/Hidden Dragon - One of my fav. all time films - but then they also made lamo Hulk.
I haven't decided yet - with this info....what will you do?

It's getting incredible reviews across the board. Check out this Metacritic (http://www.metacritic.com/film/titles/brokebackmountain) score. I think it's about way more than just two gay cowboys; it encompasses a lot -- and at the Toronto Film Festival, it got a standing ovation and had grown straight men weeping, evidently.
I think it'll be awesome. Homophobes and philistines can stay away; everyone else will probably love it. (BTW, The Hulk is the only bad Ang Lee film -- he also did The Ice Storm and Eat, Drink, Man, Woman).

There's nothing wrong with that. Its not just an "I'm feeling rather fat today" insecurity. I watch Will & Grace ocassionally, and I may see this movie when it comes out on video. But I still find two men kissing repulsive.

2 friends, whose opinions on movies I trust a great deal, said it was best movie of the year, not even close. Based on that I'll probably go check it out (though for movies in the theater right now I'd see Narnia and Geisha before this). Caveat - one of these people is a gay dude the other is a chick.

I probably won't see it in theatres unless my friends want to go see it or something. and during the scene where dudes kiss I probably will be about as moved as during a scene in another movie where a guy and a girl kiss. love is love.

Are you somehow using "I watch Will and Grace" as a positive? The only time that phrase should be used is sometehing along the lines of "Normally I have good taste, but occassionaly I do screw up and watch Will and Grace."

i will see it and i think its going to be good too.
it's got two actors in which i like most all of their movies and as far as ang lee goes i really liked the hulk (though nobody else did) and the ice storm is brilliant. yeah, it will get awkward in scenes but some of the best movies do that. i have a feeling that america won't be ready for this and though it will get oscar nods and rave reviews it will get a backlash amongst fans. too bad.

No, i don't think so. If there was a fat chick naked in the movie, and you didn't like to see fat chicks naked, would you not go to see a movie that had otherwise good review solely because of 0.5% of the movie was a fat chick naked?
If you refuse to see the movie cause two guys are kissing odds are its homophobia.

Personally I'm not a big fan of Heath Ledger. I do like Gyllenhaal though. Overall the movie seems alot like a bunch of hot air. Hot air with boys cuddling. I'm pretty dubious.

I just saw it and it rules. Until THE NEW WORLD comes out, this is the best movie of the year so far. Even better than OLDBOY.

MOVIE REVIEW - SPOILER ALERT
(If you don't want to know, don't read)
OK, I just got back from seeing the gay cowboy movie, and I'll say I was rather disappointed. I liked the beginning, and how everything is set up. You see it's Bumblefuck, Wyoming, 1963, both HL (Heath Ledger) & JG (Jake Gylenhall) are looking for work, etc etc.
Then they go up on the mountain to let the Sheep feed for a few months. They get to know each other in their own quiet cowboy way. One night, it gets cold. JG says to HL it's going to get cold when the fire dies. HL says he'll be fine. Next scene - It's cold as [censored] later on that night, and HL is shivering next to the fire that no longer exists. JG hears HL shivering. JG invites HL into tent. They sleep. A few hours later (still night), JG wakes up and puts HLs hand on JG's junk. HL is like WTF? Awkard scene where JG wants to kiss HL. HL pushes JG away. While this is happening, JG is undoing his pants. Then, HL undoes his pants and [censored] JG in the ass. Confused? So was I.
This was the first of many confusing moments in the movie. There were a lot of things left unresolved. HL and JG start 'fishing trips' 4 years after their time on the mountain. There is a lot of skipping in between HLs real life and their meet ups. You never really get a sense of what it's like for them when they are apart, and you almost feel like these meet ups are common, when in the movie they are telling you they aren't.
I felt the music was VERY corny, almost forced. There are many things in the movie that are forced, and abruptly end, and Ang Lee kinda sorta forgets to tell us, and just sorta throws you a bone later in the movie to let you know what happens.
Heath Ledger's acting I though was really good in this movie, but didn't at all buy the JG [censored] cowboy deal.
I was expecting a much better movie than what I saw.
Grade: C+

All really good reasons for me not to see it! No offense to anyone intended but this movie sounds really boring and really far from anything I would be entertained by.
I go to movies to have fun and be entertained and seeing a "Love story" sounds boring! If I were a woman it might appeal to me, maybe. I want FUN! I want to laugh or see things blown up or maybe a real western.
That doesn't mean I am homophobic. This just means that this movie sounds boring to me!
