Hey Everyone,

Well, it is Sunday at 3:50 p.m. in Arlington, VA and all I can think about is the fact that this Thurday I will be making my inaugural trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. Psyched is an understatement. I'd like to at least meet and greet as many 2plus2ers as possible while I'm there...I'll be spending most of my time at Bellagio/Mirage and will be the 23 year old kid with some kind of polo shirt and short brown hair, prob talking about DC or VA...what time/places do u guys usually play? Some questions...

1) Best Gourment Dinner: What is the best place to get a really nice meal in Vegas? Steak, Italian, Asian, whatever in the $75 range. Only proviso is I am NOT bringing a jacket so no Picasso or anywhere that requires them.

2) Best Bars/Clubs...my two friends and I plan on taking in a lot of the Vegas Nightlife...where are the best places to drink/party?

3) Best Strip Club...ok, one night of this is a must.

4) Shows...I think we are going to see one. Any must sees that I won't have trouble getting tix to last minute? Blue Man Group?

5) Money Matters: I'm planning on playing midlimits..will all the casinos cash traveller's checks at the cage, no problem? I'd prefer not to come with an absurd wad of cash.

My plan is to do the sightseeing stuff by day, check out the hotels, ride the rollercoaster, etc and play mid limit poker by night (plan is to play 10-20 or 20-40 at Mirage and 8-16 or 15-30 at Bellagio; will prob. start lower to get warmend up, may go higher if things go well). How are the waits/games at night weekdays? Weekends? All other comments and tips on must see attractions appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

It's been in the neighborhood of 115 degrees in the afternoon for several days here. You should definitely expect it to be over 105 all next week and probably over 110. Being outside during the day can be brutal.

1. Everyone says Delmonicos in the Venetian is the best steakhouse.
2. The Beach is a longtime popular spot.
3. Olympic Gardens is the only place I've gone too. I'd describe it as a lap dance club more than a stip club. I'm sure many prefer Jaguars

The wait for games can be bad at the Bellagio but are usually short at the Mirage.

Hmm, what does the humidity have to be at in VA before it “feels” like 110? /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

When it's 110, it feels like it's 110. It's uncomfortable just going for a 5 minute walk.

Delmonicos is great for steak. But if you are looking for clubs too you might consider Nine at the Palms and then a stop at Ghostbar. That's where the hip and famous go to look at the talent. And there is a lot of talent around the Palms. I like Nine pretty well but don't do the club scene so can't comment on Ghostbar. I don't know the dress code. You can't go in shorts, but I don't think you need a jacket. I guess look stylish I dunno.

O is a great show. Pricey but great.

OG is the only strip club I have gone too in Las Vegas as well. You can get in trouble there. Enjoy. Bring bankroll. Just be sure to leave before the sun comes out to avoid feeling like a real degenerate.

Will be heading up there myself this weekend!!

DINNER: The Palms in Caeser's Forum Shops...Great menu with lots of choices. Good for steak too! Delmonico is THE best for steak, but it may be a little bit more upscale than you are looking for. For a more "relaxed" experience, I recommend "AJ's Steakhouse" in the Hard Rock Hotel...probably a better venue for a younger guy out with the boys...and probably better scenery!

STRIP CLUB: Olympic Garden is a good choice, but the talent on display at Sapphire's (new) on the weekends is second to NONE.

SHOWS: Mystere at Treasure Island or Danny Gans at the Mirage.

NIGHTCLUBS: It's been awhile, but....the clubs at the Palms you can never go wrong...Baby's at the Hard Rock (hurry up and WAIT in line)...Club Ra at the Luxor.

With all this to do, the LAST thing you should be thinking about is playing poker!!

Have fun!

Hello,

I don't live in Vegas, but I have been there enough to help you out with some of your questions..

1) Dinner, I have eaten in a few of the nicer restaurants in Vegas. My personal favorite for nicer dinners is KoKomos's in The Mirage. I also have eaten in AJ's at the Hard Rock and thought it was overpriced for what you received. Although the service was excellent. Actually
my favorite place to eat in Vegas is Quarks at the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton. Not 'gourmet' food but a real blast to eat ( and definately drink ) in. Even my parents ate there and really enjoyed themselves. ( and they are by no means Trekkies /forums/images/icons/grin.gif )

2) Bars. Well as said above Quarks is a blast to get lit in. Locals can help you out better than I can

3)strip club. Crazy Horse II !!! bring lots of $20 bills. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

4)Blue Man Group was great. I will be seeing then again when I am back out there in August.

5) Any of the Hotel/Casinos cash travelors checks. I use them too.

New York,New York has a good roller coaster I have been on. The top of the Stratosphere Big SLing shot ride is really awesome too. ( although what they call a roller coaster isn't very enthusing )

As far as poker is concerned, I enjoy The Mirage better then the Bellagio.. but thats really a matter of personal opinion.

HAve a Blast!

I can't wait till I am out there in August.

I haven't been to Vegas in a year, so this info might be out of date.

Seafood Restaurant - Brusio's at The Rio. I've always thought that the Sushi Bar at San Remo was the best in town, and the Paparazzi Grill is very good there, too.

Strippers - Little Darlings is/was all nude & BYOB. Got pretty wild, esp. if there're any pornstresses doing a show. Crazy Horse Too had some hotties. Heard Olympic Club & Palomino are ripoffs. Locals could prolly tell ya what the new, happening stripclub is.

Clubs - I absolutely refuse to wait in the lines at any Vegas club, but the talent at The Palms is amazing.

Shows - Blue Man group best by far.

Rollercoaster - Speed at Sahara best I've ever riden. NYNY one is a headache special and a very rough ride.

Like Ice Cube says, two in the morning, got the Fatburger(Strip across from Monte Carlo). You ought try a Mirage or Orleans tourney; hell, just remembered the Orleans Open is going on.

Wear hats, long-sleeved T's, sunblock on them ears, nose, & neck, and drink water nonstop.

Dude... I grew up in New Orleans where all summer it is 97 with 100% humidity. It is nowhere near as hot as Vegas is...

I was there last year in late june. it was 105-110 degrees everyday. Walking outside was like walking into a wall. I'll easily take 10 degrees cooler regardless of humidity.
