Relatively new 5/10 game so you don't know any of the players.. EP calls your in MP and call with 99 and BB checks. Flop is 743 BB checks EP checks you bet, BB calls and EP folds. Turn is a 7 BB checks you bet and BB calls. River is a Q. BB checks..Should you bet? What if the river was a 2 would you be more likely to make a bet? (no flush possibility) By the way I would have raised in late position.Perhaps I should have raised in MP?

I would bet with a 2 or a Q, but I'd rather see a 2. I hope EP calls me with overcards or a crummy pair.

There have been quite a few of these posts in the last few weeks.

When you ask yourself at the table "Should I make this marginal river value bet?", the answer is almost always "Yes". You will win far more bets than you will lose in the long run.

Raise preflop!

And for heavens sake bet the river, he might call with his A4.

Raising preflop is certainly an option. If the player is likely to fold to a flop bet, it is a better option.

Betting the river if you haven't had any real resistance so far, is usually right, because 'worse hands will call'.
