Southpark, evaluated sans cartman, is about a 3 out of 10 on the funny scale.

With cartman, it is usually a 8 or 9.

The funnyness of an episode is directly proportional to the amount of cartman in aforementioned episde.

Tonights episode, while funny in some parts, suffered from a fundamental lack of cartman. Surely the writers must know this? Why do they keep not including him?

The movie is one of the funiest movies I've ever seen.

Splashpot,

The movie is very funy. Most of the best moments however were cartman (I hate you kyle). Though he isn't the central character, there are of course exceptions to ever rule.

Case Closed,

Where did i lose you? I think tonights episdode would have been funnier with more cartman. The 30 seconds he was in at the beginning were awesome. But as cartman would say "I've never thought of it like that, how insightful you are, please tell me more."

in general, the cartman rule is correct. however, my favorite episode is the you got f'd in the a episode, which featured virtually zero cartman.

Although I feel I am the minority, did anyone else feel the show went downhill after the movie?

Talentdeficit,

A fantastic point by you, that episode is unbelievable. I think that in general cartman is better than the regular cast of characters( the other kids, parents, teachers etc), but i do like quite a few of the episodes where they bring in newer outside characters (like the goth kids, the kids who serve them , their dance teacher etc, but also, the first token episode was good, underpants gnomes was good etc).

I don't think so. The writing on the show is still very good after all these years.
