View Full Version : How obsessive are you about file organization?

I can't stand it when my files(mostly music) are unorganized. Everything has to have correct tags(track numer, disc number, genre, everything). Which sucks, because I have about 20 albums I have to rename, which takes forever. My papers for school are in folders according to class. I guess I just like when everything looks neat, and is easy to find.

So, how anal are you about file names/organization?

iTunes will organize for you, but only if everything is tagged correctly.

before i opened this, i looked around me and my desk, chuckled about the paperwork scattered everywhere, and wished i had a digital camera handy to share it. then i opened it and realized it was a question about electronic files, which i am pretty anal about. weird.

Well my job is a Systems ADmin IT tech so it goes with out saying my file structure has to be perfect, as well as my wiring . I hate ANYTHING on my desktop.

As far as music, I have to rename everything perfectly. Being a Deadhead this takes time cause when the music comes down as shn's it just says "gd1974-07-27d01t01" and then I have to go rename it with Venue, correct name and year so it shows correct in my IPOD. Not to mention organizing the playlist...

This is a good time to point out, if you have not made a cd-r or dvd-r backup of files you can not replace, you should take the time and do it this week.
