View Full Version : AK against a donk bet vs. a very very loose player

Party 2/4
reads are villain who donk bets has an 85% VPIP basically VERY loose, but certainly not a LAG. Not sure what I should have done on the river if I had called the turn. Would you raise the turn then check the river for a free showdown? call the turn or fold the river? Thanks for everyone's input.

against ABC players, i fold this. you're in trouble in a lot of ways and tough to figure out how many outs you really have to make calling this turn worth it. you've shown a lot of strength preflop and flop.

against tricky players i would call figuring some of my Ks and As are good in addition to my gutshot.

I'm not even thinking twice about calling the turn.

You're getting 7-to-1 in position with what are likely 10 clean outs. At 2/4 this turn donk is much more often an 8, Jack or small pocket pair. A hand bigger than one-pair is much more likely to be going for a check-raise in this spot after the aggression you've shown so far.

Given your reads, the bet on the flop is a free card play.

I fold when I don't get it.

Ugh.

I guess you have the outs and odds to call.

Sometimes I'd bet, I might even raise.

I'd call the turn and fold the river unimproving, calling (or betting if checked to) any A or K and raising any Q.

yea this was tough i played this poorly and actually ended up calling the goddamn river. i could've been beating a "small" bluff. but i did call the river knowing i was beat. I went too far with Ak on this one. I felt that donk bet was some sort of flush draw with his OESD. Oh well, thanks for everyone's input.
