Laziness - is it genetic?

I am extremely lazy. When talking the other day with one of my friends about my laziness, the thought popped into my mind that maybe it's not totally my fault that I'm so lazy. Perhaps a large amount of it is attributed to my genes.

How much do you think laziness can be attributed to genes? Discuss.

I am lazy but prefer to think of it as being extremely efficient...

It's probably more a result of depression than anything else; if depression is common in your family, then I suppose you could say it's genetic.

No one in my family is particularly lazy, yet I am horrible about procrastinating and all around slacking off. Based on this large sample size I'd say it is not genetic.

I do recall reading somewhere that it may be our natural tendency as humans to be lazy. Thousands of years ago when our ancestors were hunter/gatherers, food was very scarce. People did not have energy to waste on excess activity. Therefore, whenever they were not looking for food, they would be as lazy as possible to preserve energy.

See, laziness isn't bad at all. I'm just doing what my body is programmed to do. Laziness is sweet.
