Only laydown QQ at an $11 when someone flips over their cards, and you see AA/KK.

This is really bad.

PUSH.

This is a huge huge leak imo. It's not only too tight but it's also too weak. You should be happy to shove over the top.

oh no /images/graemlins/frown.gif

there has to be a hell of a lot more action for me to fold QQ preflop in an 11 (or a 22 or a 33, for that matter). pushthat [censored].

I definitely see the point obviously about the level of play at $11s, but at some point with QQ there's the potential to run into KK or AA.

Given that possibility, is pushing always the optimal play? What about a reraise to 500-600?

I sometimes lay down QQ preflop when two or more players make AA/KK type raises preflop (ie 6xBB raise then a 3xpot raise on top of that). And then I only make the fold sometimes.

Doing it against a single opponent is something that I never do.

Let's see, criteria for folding QQ in an 11. Call Ms Cleo, ask her if they have KK or AA. If she says yes, fly to Jamaica, bitch slap her, fly back and get all your chips in the middle. Never fold QQ in a party 11 preflop with one random in hand (Way too big of range here). Fold if you hate money.

I think (this is just off the top of my head) that 10 handed the chances that someone will have KK or AA when you have QQ is about 1 in 12. If you think about the hands that an average person in the game you are playing will re-raise with, it is far more likely you are against a hand you are favored over rather than AA or KK.

This is a good question. You could estimate it by guessing how likely you would get called with one action vs. the other, and what will happen if you do get called. If your opponent has an Ace, there's about an 18% chance an Ace will flop, and the same for a King. If your opponent doesn't have and Ace or King, there's about a 42% chance your Queen will be outflopped. So roughtly slightly more than one in three times an overcard to the Queen will appear on the flop. What's your plan if this happens? I'm guessing trapping and hoping for the best would be highest EV, unless perhaps both an Ace and a King flop. This is a pretty nerve-wracking way to play, rather than just push and hope for a bad call, but it could well be higher EV than just pushing.
