Have been playing for a while against villian; nothing too serious. I haven't been bluffing much and villian seems to be keeping in line as well. We've played no big pots yet.

Check the turn? Bet the river? What if he had pushed the turn?

too much that beat you in this spot but if you think you can get him off a hand then bet it up, if he hasnt been out of line with bad calls then with a pair or weak 2 pair he may dump it

I wouldn't bet this river for value.

Also the PFR is waaaaay too small, make it $5 or 6.

I agree with Maulik. What second best hands are calling on that board?

I think you have to check behind here, he is only going to call or raise with a better hand or fold a worse one.

how is this a value bet, 3 flush, 3 straight, high cards, and an ace. what worse hand is calling a river bet?

I check the river. Fold to a turn push.

KQ, QJ...any Q really. or T if he called with that. he's not checking to you on the river with a hand that beats you very often after you check behind on the turn.

Not one here commented on MP1's stack size, which was the deciding factor in my smallish preflop raise. I wanted to marry him to a top pair hand.

I am calling a push on the turn (look at how small it would be), but when he checks I am thinking he has a pair of tens or queens that thinks it must be beat. I checked to induce a river bluff. When it failed to materialize I put him all in, and he folded.

if you had reraised even a dollar more preflop, then MP's stack would have been even more committed.

i'd have bet half his remaining stack on the turn

value betting is done with a hand where you know a player will call and your hand will stand up. as played this is a simple river check. well i guess there is the possibility of a value bet on the river.... and in the long run the value is negative

what hand that beats us checks the river after we check the turn? Villain would be dumb to go for a check raise after the weakness we showed.
