I apologize if these are excessively standard. I just want a little check-up.

The basic idea is these games are pretty aggro and they'll bet a lot more hands then they will call with on the turn. If the boards were dry I would check/call and block the river, but there is far too good of a chance that I am ahead and the pot is large.

Second hand looks better than the first, because the flop is so much more draw heavy and so much less believable that you have anything.

xorbie,

Are you check-folding the turn in hand 1 barring a read?

I even have 6 outs against a hand like 77 and even more against some two pair hand (and given the open limp from MP, a set seems unlikely).

No, that sounds pretty atrocious. I just don't think I would check raise.

check calling leaves over $250 in the pot on the river with effective stacks of $50!

are you advocating a weakish lead/fold to raise line? this is kinda gross given how many outs i may have (12 against something like T9)

I would probably bet 2/3 pot.

I can't see how this is a better line given that I can't fold to a raise all-in getting over 6 to 1 if he pushes, AND he'll almost certainly BET more hands than he will CALL a basically all-in bet with.

I'm not, but I'm sure I'd hate for the turn to get checked through on this board unless the poker gods have already promised me a river card that makes my play there easy.

Um.. yes I am.. I'd love to hear an explanation why betting is better than checking.
