View Full Version : How bad is this?

12-06-2005, 12:50 PM
I played some online poker yesterday and this is one of the hands that made me think: "Am I this bad?"

Relevant stacksizes:
Hero: $400 (on the button)
Villain: $160 (SB)

5 max on Eurobet:
SB and BB post blinds. Hero raises to $16. SB calls and BB folds.

Hero has: K /images/graemlins/diamond.gif K /images/graemlins/club.gif

Flop: 2 /images/graemlins/club.gif8 /images/graemlins/club.gif2 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif
Villain (SB) checks, Hero bets $25, Villain (SB) calls.

Turn: 9 /images/graemlins/club.gif
Villain checks, Hero bets all-in....

Yeah, it's pretty bad. Just make a normal bet here.

I wouldnt make this a standard betting line, but any turn bet commits you to the hand anyways, so its fine for the hand. I would bet pot on flop and 2/3 pot on turn.

why not check behind and see if you hit the flush or play some poker?

Maybe you'll get lucky and fold a deuce **maybe**

It's not good... pot the flop and check behind on the turn. Call a reasonable bet on the river. If checked to on river bet.

MOre on flop.

Shrug, sticking rest in on the turn isn't so bad. He showed you ace high flush this time?

Next 5 times he calls with two nines, no club.

When the flush makes you decide to push telling villain "I can beat your flush". This kind of play guarantees that you will win a small pot or lose a big one.

I think I check behind on the turn and call any reasonable bet on the river.

Check the turn, fold to almost any river bet unless another club comes and then it gets trickier.

If he checks the river, bet 1/2-3/4th the pot.

Monsters under the bed much?

I think I prefer the call any reasonable bet line. He could easily have a PP here.

I bet all-in and he folded.

Right after the hand I thought to myself, what does this bet accomplish? I only get called when I'm beat and with this board I won't be getting much value from weaker hands.

I should've checked and called a reasonable bet on river. Thanks for the replies.

Uhhhh. If he's that bad you're gonna get his money anyway.

Last time I checked, calling with nines full on the turn is a good idea.
