My mom is very seriously ill, very ill, and I took a vow today, that if she becomes alright..ill never gamble again.
Say a prayer for me.

I hope your mom gets better, but what does you quitting poker have to do with it?

Prayer is good. Prayer works. IMHO trying to "make a deal" with God is not a good line. "If you'll do this for me I'll give you this" doesn't mean much to The Man.

I aswell hope she gets better. But unless playing poker is something she hates I don't see any reason for you to do it.
Instead when she is well again you should maybe donate some % of your future winnings to charity.

But who here will check-call-dark-overbet the turn in your absence?

I will forever refer to that play (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=plnlpoker&Number=3873580& Searchpage=1&Main=3873580&Words=dark+thabadguy&top ic=&Search=true#Post3873580) as "thabadguy."

God bless.

Hopefully your mom will become better.

However, what does this have to do with "gambling"? You are making a bizarre connection between your mom's illness and playing profitable poker? God's not going to save your mom's life by you quiting. Me thinks he's not really worried about your poker playing.

But I have your mother in my prayers.

The best of luck to you and your family. Seriously.

If you do decide to quit poker, this forum will be losing a valuable poster. I hope you reconsider.

I am guessing that poker doesn't seem that important at a time like this.

Ever since man's earliest days, it has been man's impulse to sacrifice something he holds dear in the hope it will help accomplish what he himself is powerless to bring about.

That being said, I hope your mother gets better.

if she disapproves of you playing, then I can see quitting.

but if she doesn't, I would play the toughest games and make her proud of me and/or get her something really nice.

good luck and God bless.

just realized that came out wrong, ha. basically i just mean it can be very therapeutic at times, that's all. playing live poker and losing myself in it helped me deal with a lot of crap. but i wish you all the best aditya.
