View Full Version : What do you think of my website? (Class project)

For an AP Psych project we had a bunch of choices and I decided I would make the website. This website is regarding hallucinogenic drugs and information about them and their effects. It isn't a real in depth site but I think it is pretty good minus the crappy logos that I made myself . I was thinking I may mess around with it after my teacher grades it because I liked making and running this site even if it sucks .

http://www.psych-notes.org I went all out and bought a 2.99 package from 1and1 for this project, pissed all the good names were taken, but hah .

Tell me what you think, remember it's for a senior AP Psych project, hehe.

opening paragraph under "Hallucinogenic drugs"...that font is TOO big, scale it down.

South park picture is pretty random. I know this is a school project, but you should stick with a theme: funny-helpful, or serious-helpful. Not mostly serious-helpful with some random funnyness. Add more randomness to the site or take out some of it.

bring up the skip button like right now

the font for the mouseover on the selected tab is totally unreadable

I like how the Google ads for the home page are all about addiction treatment and troubled teens, and then on the drug info page they're all like "grow shrooms at home!! Pass your drug test!!" Funny.

Add a link to Erowid.

It looks like it was built with a free website builder... the into needs to go....

Flash intro takes too long for what it's trying to do (which is nothing really). Sure you have a skip intro button but what's the purpose of the animation before the site title appears?

Top banner and logo look borked as well as your border at the top of the screen.

Photo album is cool.

Content is decent for what it is.

Thanks for the feedback so far, lots of useful information, I do really want to make the site better even though it has already been turned in, I just enjoy it. I did make it with a built in website builder so maybe that is what I will work on first. I should also try to theme it like asofel said, thanks for all the help guys.

Lol @ jba, funny comment!

Flas intros are quite useless, but the style and colors you used in the intro were a lot better than the style you used once we enter the site. I would try to change the scheme of the site to match the intro's feel.

The design scheme is very hodge podge and mismatched. The graphics you made don't look anything like the graphics you used from the web-site builder. The flash intro needs to have the skip button right away and really doesn't need to be there at all.

You really need to think about the audience of your site and what they're looking for. If this were the site for, say, a club, art dealer, or fashion designer, then things like the flash intro add to the ambiance of the site and help establish credibility (image and style are a big party of credibility for businesses like that). Your site is an informational site; the way you will establish credibility is with your information. With that in mind, you need to make sure the site is tailored to highlight your information. Clean up the interface and make it look like you weren't actually on these drugs when you made the site. Leave that for another audience.
