View Full Version : Am I the only one playing full ring? (lc)

Seems like everyone is playing 6 max... I know, I know... more profitable... get to play more hands against the fish and not the sharks... etc...

I like playing full ring for some reason. I play a semi-loose aggressive/aggressive style and it seems to do well for me at NL 25 full ring.

I'm probably missing out on some good 6max action but I'm not ready to make a move to it as my primary game.

If you are winning and are comfortable then stay at full-ring. Many of us prefer 6-max, hopefully we never imply that full ring is somehow inferior. The games are different. This post generated some good discussion. I have only begun to dabble in 6 max. I play full ring either $25 or $50 tables and the occasional $100 table.

I currently prefer full ring if only because I've played it more and understand the value of my hands more full ring then 6 max. Personally, I find the variance a little higher in 6 max because people are looser and there seems to be more calling stations/and lags. I find it more difficult to put people on a hand because they're so loose and will call with any piece of the board, any draw, etc.

With that being said, I believe you can get paid off easier with monsters in 6 max because they're so loose. But, in 6 max, if you're running bad, I think you're going to lose more simply because you're forced to play more hands.

I play full ring for the time being. But once I get a roll up, I'm heading over to 6-max.

I'm going back to full-ring when I move up to mid/high stakes.

I play full ring game. The few times I play short handed are when the tables start to break up. I really like the short handed play but just haven't had the time to really focus on that game at the moment.

I mostly play 100NL full ring. I am planning on moving to 6-max in the near future, however.

After being full ring only for a long time, I'm playing more shorthanded lately. I wish they had 7-max. That I would like.

I'm playing full ring because I think I'm better at full ring than 6 max.

I've tried 6 max a bit at different levels, and although the sample is smaller, my winrate is always either lower or I'm in the red.

I enjoy 6-max because you get to play more hands with the fish/maniacs and it is so much less boring than full ring because of the fact you get to play more hands. Whenever I occasionally try playing full ring (if I notice a table with a crazy avg. pot size) I'm tempted to play some hands that I would play in 6-max although I know I shouldn't.
