How do you play AQ? I tend to play it differently at the early levels... if I had position I would have folded to a raise L2, but I was 1st to act.

What are you thoughts about my pf UTG bet? What about villains pf raise?

bump... I see some respected guys out there, hoping for their input

I always raise it at the $11s, but I'd fold pf to the min-rr or any rr for that matter.

Eh...sometimes raise in EP, a lot of times no. More so as we slide to MP unopened. One the more obvious problems being that a LP AK is NOT often reraising, making OOP with an Ace on board a little delicate.

This reraise coming from the blinds (facing flop OOP), gets bonus points from me. If it were suited, I'd call the reraise. Unsuited, I don't know what you can hope for. He WILL be c-betting any flop...including an Ace (yes, even holding AA), and you can't safely proceed considering the pot size, among the more obvious pitfalls.

I fold this hand to the reraise.

At a very active table I muck AQo in EP (first two levels). Fold/limp/raise - whatever you choose is fine. I'd fold to the reraise.

I limp this EP. Fold to the reraise. When I limp I usually fold to a raise, but it depends.

I like your line here. UTG raise is OK, and his big reraise (esp. considering his stack size) scares me off.

This is good advise blue, but we have to remember that this is an $11(i think). They often call with weaker aces trying to flop an ace. They're also calling with broadways as well and some maniacs will call with anything. More often than not I'm stacking someone when an A or Q flops. And if I don't catch a c-bet of 100-150 usually takes it down.

However the reraise signals that we're probably behind so we should let it go now. But this is better than limping and letting everyone else limp. Or limping and letting someone else raise to 90-100 cuz now we don't know if we're WA or WB.

Pushes. Villian turns over:

KQ and you double up
AA/KK and you bust and open up the next one

I might just call and let villain keep firing, if possible. Much depends on whether I think TT or JJ are calling my push right now as opposed to continuing to bet out. The only hand that seems likely to be in his range that it worries me to do this with is A /images/graemlins/heart.gif K /images/graemlins/heart.gif, but that's so specific that I'm happy to take that chance.

lol, or did you? /images/graemlins/wink.gif

you KNEW what you were going to do here before you called right?

"if i hit TP queen, i'm _____ "
"if i hit TP ace, i'm ____ "

...'depends' surely. anything to learn from his <1/2 pot lead? not really. if you had bunch of chips to spend here, you could raise him, fold to a push (as an AA/KK isn't playing around TOO much w/ the hearts on board).

but, you don't. blah, you do have the Ah - less often he has two others, giving you more outs + the backdoor FD. and TPTK ta'boot!

push away you donkie!!!! /images/graemlins/wink.gif

ps. if neither of the blanks above = 'go to the felt', don't call the PF reraise

Push. His raise puts half of his stack in, giving him too good odds to fold just about anything. If he has KK or AA then you bust, w/e, variance. If he has AK TT or JJ or is a huge donk and has QK or QJ or who knows what then you get paid. This is much more likely, and you are have thrown in a quarter of your stack already. Definite push after the raise/call preflop.

just have the feeling because of this post that, villain had KK. I call the preflop raise and when Q flops, probably go broke.

I don't put a penny into the pot with AQ in this spot. Fold ASAP.

Very nice read on villain!
The reason I posted this is b/c I want to find out if I should have folded pre-flop. I ended up winning the hand, and when we win win often don't realize that our play might be wrong. I think that the correct play is to fold AQ from UTG (EP in general) L 1-2, maybe L3 too. It sounds like many people would have folded to the pf raise, but even limp/calling pf puts you OOP post flop.
