i can also be used as an excited reaction generally acknowledging what the person is saying as positive

ie.
1: hey, you want go to the bar tonight?
2: holllllaaaa

1: so i thought i was going to fail that test, but i managed to scrape by and get 16/30
2: holllllaaaa! let's get drunk.
