How many have you seen?

(sorry if it's been posted before; if it has, just lock it as usual)

Probably 150 of them. It was my goal at some point to watch all of the top 250 movies, but a lot of the lower rated movies don't really interest me, plus they change a lot.

http://www.imdb.com/chart/bottom is the bottom 100, is it odd that ive seen more of the bottom 100 than the top 250?

I was looking through the bottom 100 and I found this:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168172/

Notice Dane Cook as the co-star. The guy deserves some credit for making a buddy action movie with Dennis Rodman and ending up with a career 5 years later.

Speaking of Imdb.com, I'm wondering, how seriously do you guys think people take the rankings?

[/ QUOTE ]I used to vote pretty seriously on every movie I saw. Sometimes weeks later I'd decide "oh this movie really deserved a 9 instead of the 8 I gave it". I think people that vote on a LOT of movies take it seriously.

Nice. I didn't think anyone besides me liked, or even saw this movie.

Have you spoken to anyone, ever?

The fact that "American Beauty", while a great movie, is voted above Apocalypse Now and Taxi Driver, is rediculous.

Also, the fact that Se7en, Million Dollar Baby, Crash, and Sin City, which are all good movies, are in the top 100 while Annie Hall, Full Metal Jacket, The Deer Hunter, Ben-Hur, Platoon, All Quiet on the Western Front, Scarface, and The Untouchables are ranked below (some way below) tells you a lot about the voters.

For the Top 250, only votes from regular voters are considered

[/ QUOTE ]
That's taken from the top 250 list. So loads of fanboys turning up and giving a movie a 10 won't overly affect its top 250 placement.

BTW, to the poster who singled out Serenity, is that really the worst film you could find in the top 250? I can see worse films which rank higher.

The fact that you would group the vastly overrated flash-and-fire films like Scarface, The Untouchables, and Platoon with real classics like The Deer Hunter and Ben-Hur says a lot about something as well.

Mr. Nanny and Street Fighter I love those movies. It appears as none of the voters appreciate unintentional comedy.

"The increadilby strange creaturs who stopped living and became mixed up zombies 2"

Might be the best title ever.

The only ones i've seen out of the bottom 100 are the Police Academy ones..but i'm not sure if i've even seen the ones mentioned...

Actually, I never really liked Scarface or The Untouchables, (I think Platoon is more than a flash-and-fire film), but, nonetheless, they surely deserve more than a movie like Sin City.

from the bottom 100:

2. 1.7 SuperBabies: Baby Geniuses 2 (2004)
46. 2.3 Baby Geniuses (1999)

haha.

I saw it and really liked it. Full of plot holes you could drive a truck through, but very entertaining nonetheless.

I have seen 6 of the top 10, 34 of the top 100, and 67 of the top 250.

I was surprised by these numbers, because I am a big movie buff. I have got a lot of watching to do!!!

As in almost all polls like this, the voting is probably skewed in favor of more recent movies for a number of reasons. Primarily, today's movies were designed to please today's culture, and it is today's culture that's voting in these polls.

I've seen all 50 top 50s, about 95 of the top 100, and about 230 of the top 250.

I've seen every one except eleven:

43, 45, 51, 110, 11, 133, 189, 195, 203, 208, 250.

Apparently, I've missed out on a bunch of Japanese anime.
