So I still have about 7 months left on my lease and I really need to get out of it. I'm going down to talk to him tommorow and I was looking for suggestions on how I should go about getting out of it. I'd like to get out of here by the end of december, but I could probably make it to the end of January. The apartment he owns next to me is empty so I don't know how much harder that will make it to get out of the lease, but I think someone was looking at it yesterday.

My plan so far is to go down there and tell him that i'm low on money and there is no way I'm going to be able to get enough for next months rent.

I don't know anyone who has broken a lease so I'm wondering if landlords are usually pretty nice about it or stubborn.

tell him the truth, let him know at least a month in advanced. He might keep your security deposit, but if he isnt a complete [censored], you should be able to get out of it.

Edit, also you might want to let him know that you will do everything in your power (talk to friends, etc) to fill your apt, or the one next to you, asap.

you better start looking for someone that is looking for a place.

offer a month of rent to find someone to move in, or find someone to take it. You will almost definatly lose the deposit

If your willing to be an [censored] it is really easy to get out of a lease. I have gotten out of two. You just have to make it clear that its in their best interest to let you out of it and they will pretty much always oblige.

The thing about breaking a lease, when other apts look at your renter's history that will come to bite you later in life.
