Good Article (http://bobanddavid.com/david.asp)

Pretty biting and witty, but I hate the comedians do politics [censored]. Minor quibble.

Reading now, but David Cross is one of the funniest guys on this planet. I don't get the whole white trash comedy thing and I don't like it.

He's only about a year behind Doug Stanhope...

I mean you, Dan Whitney, the guy who's name the bank account is under. You were born and raised in Nebraska (hardly The South), went to private school and moved to Florida when you were 16. This is when you developed your accent?!

Larry the Cable Guy is such an unfunny moron that making fun of him is like shooting fish in a barrel. Still, funny article.

Doug Stanhope is literally the best stand-up on the planet.

David Cross's bit about being raped by the Virgin Mary was brilliant-disgusting.

No.

I wish I had more to add, but it appears as though you are beyond the point of no return anyway.

Wow.

EDIT-

I should mention that I actually do think Stanhope is pretty good.

I really respect you. Thanks for the easy dismissal. I welcome you to continue to listen to your Ellen DeGeneres albums.

Ellen DeGeneres is not funny.

As I said in my edit, I actually do like Stanhope. But calling him the best in the world is crazy, IMNSHO.

So I take it the article starts to get funny after the first 7 paragraphs because those were very unfunny.

Regardless of anything else, "Think-Of-Something-To-Do-And-See-That-Task-To-Completion!!!!!" is pretty funny.

The important thing is that you judge his work based solely on that article.

Ellen is also from the South. Jeff Foxworthy used to open for her. True story.

I can't stand that fan ass kissing [censored]. You and Dane Cook ought to get together and have a "my-fan's-are-the-greatest-people-on-earth-and-that's-why-I-do-this" off. You could both sell a [censored] load of merch too.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just a quote in case one of the Dane Cook worshippers from the other thread drops by.

Let's drop pants and measure when it comes to comedy.

[/ QUOTE ]

This amuses me. Still, I would be lying if I said I wasn't disturbed by another man suggesting that we both drop our pants.

Most of my favorites are dead or past their primes. Bill Hicks continues to be a source of great laughs for me. Mitch Hedberg was good, too.

I'd have to put Carlin towards the top of my list. His last special wasn't very special, though.

Hmm...

Even though he doesn't do much stand-up these days, Robert Klein is way up there for me. Cross should be somewhere in my list, as well.

Man, stand-up really has gone downhill. It's tough for me to think of good current names. Perhaps I'm being stupid about Stanhope, but there is no way anyone can convince me that he is better than a practicing George Carlin or Robert Klein.

Now, it's late, and I have some reading to do. Supposedly Brian Greene's "The Elegant Universe" is good for people who have a passing interest in physics. I'd like to get to it before my eyes glaze over from too many hours on the computer. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Bill Hicks is the gold standard. Stanhope actually has his moments. I suggest going to his site and checking some clips.

I apologize for being rude in my post, and I agree that Carlin and Klein in their heyday (especially Klein) were WAAAAY funnier than Stanhope is now. Can you name a stand-up who is consistantly funnier than Stanhope today, though?

I'm not a Larry fan myself, but I pulled this off his website and I think it's funny as hell:

How many of the Larry haters have really even seen his act?

Minus the whole "Git-R-Dun" thing, he's pretty funny. Keep in mind that I want to rip someones head off when I hear them say Git-R-Dun and I live in KY, so it's fairly common.
