I'm so torn with this, my company had a great year and am looking at over 1K on top of my monthly salary and don't know what to do.

Sure I could add it to my bankroll, or buy into a larger game and try to score big, or I could just splurge on new electronics or an XBOX 360 ???

Or I could be a woman and put it in my savings.

So many choices, I need some freakin help.

If you don't mind never leaving your house again, then definately the 360

Surf,

A lame, but smart, idea would be to open up an IRA and make your 2004 contribution and if there is any left save it for January and make your 2005 contribution.

yea, I know I should but I take 10% of each paycheck and put it into my 401K with company profit sharing.

I want to splurge on something I shouldn't...

The poster with the Georgia avatar had the right idea, then.

Blow your money.

Def spend it. I'm starting to realise that while financial prudence is important, spending money you don't need on stuff you enjoy is clearly an excellent way to improve the quality of your life.

nice...you sound like Dr Phil "Why are you so fat, because that hamburger does not reject you, and those french fries do not admonish you for eating them...they are your friends"

Surfin,

I am quite the opposite of Dr Phil or of fat.

Pehaps coach Weber could use the 1k for a prized recruit.

I haven't done coke in years, and I swear I started salivating when I saw that photograph.

Impressive, I have my bonus spent months in advance and never had the luxury of having the money before actually spending it. They could probably make my bonus out directly to amex and save me and my bank the trouble.

5-6% is fine for 401k when you are just starting out, and if they match any of it you're ahead of the game. Enjoy your new xbox.

Good enough, its only bi-yearly though, I'm a slacker with a procrastination problem.
