Standard? Villian was a little tight, no real reads.

Why would you call the turn bet if you're going to fold on the end?

Flop would've been a great time to bet and see if he had a diamond.

12-01-2005, 02:21 AM
Because I made a mistake in not betting on the flop to see whether or not he had a diamond. I didn't want to raise the turn because I wanted a cheap showdown, on the turn he could've had anywhere from a Kx/Xd to TxTd...

Standard?

No. Bizarre.

Bet/Fold the flop. If you're not going to do that, either fold the turn or shove the turn and hope to God your third-nut flush is best.

Calling the turn and folding the river is insane -- if you thought your jack-high flush was good enough to call the turn, why not the river? Your hand had no chance of improvement post-turn. Either push or fold, don't give 400 chips away and THEN fold.

the best possible card comes for you on the turn, and you fold to an all-in bet.

given that, you might as well have folded on the turn and saved yourself 400 chips - what were you hoping to come?

A check.

This is exactly why I have started folding TT and JJ to reraises (obviously unless in the later stages). Unless I the raise is small enough to continue with set value (rarely), never call.

I would probably fold in your case. Villian looks like keen and a furher raise is likely preflop, or certainly a lot of post flop action. You canno bet with any confidence so let it go.

If a low flop comes out you have no idea if you are ahead or not, will he have a higher pocket? If flop above J comes out then you have no idea if he has hit.

Folding JJ in his spot for only 150 more is a big mistake.

Bet the flop. It would give you the information to keep you from such an awkward place on future streets. Other than that its ok.

I am wondering, What card were you looking for on the river that would have made you call a push?

Ditto.

At level three, with your position on the button, I really like the 150 pf raise, and then there is absolutely no way you can lay that down to a min-raise with you getting 4.5:1. JJ can handle that.

I'd actually give this flop a nice bet, about half-pot. I don't like a c/f here. You've got a really solid stack for this stage of the SnG. That kind of bet on the flop will give you some information that will help you either make your turn fold WAY easier or ilicit a fold from him. Remember, this is a fairly large pot, so there's some equity in trying to take it down at the flop. Betting at a monochrome board will get villan to fold almost 100% of time if he doesn't have a diamond and a lot if he only has 1.

Bet flop 100%
U do that and you have nearly all the info you need.
