I think the better question is, once you get on one of those lists (ahh the good old Party rakeback scamming days), how the hell do you get off?

In these cases, the perpetrators are actually checking their e-mail boxes for a reply. They intend to develop a relationship with the mark and extract money from him/her.

There are websites devoted to tales (and transcripts) of reverse-scamming these scammers. I haven't read them for ages, but I'm sure another OOTer knows.
